Documents of Importance

LSEC is constantly trying to support you in your own efforts to create awareness in your own company on Information Security. The following documents could be of use for your own personal interest, or to share within your company and your colleagues.

In the Data Breach Report 2009 by by Verizon Business on data breach, compliancy and potential tools and solutions that could help in data loss prevention, the astonishing number of 285 million records breached in 2008 indicates the increasing importance of Information Security today. KPMG and Everett published recently the European Idenity and Access Management Survey Results for 2009. An interesting and important overview of evolutions of IAM interests from enterprises and governments. For companies interested in Cloud Computing or Virtualisation, or with existing activities in this opportunity, the report by the CloudSecurity Aliance was added as a first indication of some of the major issues.

LSEC launches SME survey results, reported in ENISA Quartely

Read the press release. Late 2008, LSEC has questioned 152 Flemish SME's about their attitudes towards information and their actions in relation to information management and security. Some of the most important finding are that the majority of the SME's information management is executed by the Managing Director, who is also in charge over Information Security. Most of the SME's have quite a lot of sensitive information. Only few of them have an acutal plan on how to improve security measures or continuity measures.
In the July edition of the ENISA Quarterly, besides the convergence of risk, countering insider threats, there are contributions about privacy in the cloud and on a framework for information sharing and alerting.
